At the start of 2022, we gathered in snowy Denver for a team offsite.

As a fully distributed/remote company, it was a great way to get some distance from the screen and reflect on the big picture of what we are building at Supermove. It was also a great opportunity to discuss where things are headed and plan for the future.

One thing we always come back to is keeping people at the center of what we do—whether it be Supermove employees or customers who are trusting Supermove to elevate their business.

Being a software startup in the moving industry is not easy since there are many leaders who have been burned from previous experiences with tech. However, when we are able to see example of the positive impact that Supermove has on companies, it fuels us all to keep going. Here are some highlights from our offsite:

Learning from Customers

One of the key things we want to build into our company offsites is customer centricity. For our Denver offsite, we invited 6 moving company owners to join us. We had a full day of meetings that included a presentation from our leadership team on all aspects of the business. We also had several breakout sessions where we broke up into smaller groups by function to deep dive on opportunities in more detail.

We talked business, got real time feedback about our customers’ experience with Supermove, and connected with them on a personal level. We made new friends and memories, and returned home with renewed enthusiasm for our jobs and the future of the company.

Reflecting & Improving

As much as we love to celebrate our wins, we also spent time talking about what we can do better as a company, especially when it comes to releasing product features that didn't work out exactly as planned. We identified the reasons we fell short of reaching our ambitious goals and made detailed plans to ensure we learn from it. We’re also very focus on ensuring that our core values & operating principles apply to what we do and decisions we make each day.

We took time to reflect on how far we’ve come as a team in 2021, as well as the journey that’s ahead of us. It’s been an action-packed year for us and we continue working towards our mission of simplifying moving & storage for everyone.

Team Bonding

We chose Denver because we have a ton of snow sport enthusiasts on the team. We spent a full day on the slopes, and had some team members learn how to ski/snowboard for the first time. Our team is an active bunch, and I loved that we got to share this experience altogether!

Future Offsites

Overall, the offsite was a huge success. We’re excited to see where we’ll be as a team during our next gathering. With feature releases and new products coming down the line such as driver inventory, we’re committed to constantly improving our software. The team is growing and we’re more geographically distributed than ever so if you’re interested in joining us, check out our about us and careers page!
